my editing process for this process was probably the most relaxed and comfortable ive ever been during a project in my life i was in the outer banks all weekend at my roommates grandparents house i set up my whole editing station with my laptop and hard drive it the room the call the lightning room its a circular room that over looks the ocean ive never felt more clear in my life with how i wanted to edit something it was refreshing and everything came together exactly how i wants Dylan took charge of the ending of the sound scape but being roommates it very easy to collaborate, constantly showing each other our work and helping one another.
i have been filming random things and throwing around ideas for my self portrait for a while nothing concrete tho. i actually just read the comment shannon made on my black and white photos about how i focused mainly on human figure i guess i did that unintentionally but i am an Art minor and almost all of my art in the last few years has been figure or portraiture. Ive done many self portraits whether it be for class ( drawing , graphic design) or on my own but never with video besides Skateboarding parts when i was a just a wee lad. The skate parts only focus on one aspect of my life. its hard to think of something visual that can describe me as a whole. ive been throwing some idea about how i could translate my art in a form of video. If i some how manage to project my brain on film it will make the cuts in the bourne ultimatum look slow as fuck.. so maybe ill have to find a mid ground

our "self" changes so much, i wouldn't worry about getting the big picture of "Russ"...instead let yourself be free to focus on one small part of you that's important to you right now. make that your center for the piece. you'll make so many self-portraits in your life it will be nice to look back and reflect on this thing that was important to you about yourself at this time in your life. it may be something from your past. it may be something from your future. it may be the thing your obsessed with for an hour today. all worthy of exploration!
